"We loved our stay. Francesca is a delightful host. The rooms (apartments, really) are huge and she has put a great deal of effort into furnishing and decorating them. Linens are high quality. Rooms along the street can get a bit noisy (you're right across the street from the entrance to the Accademia). The rooms over the garden are very quiet. The price was excellent in relation to the quality. Highly recommended." Joseph, 29 September 2007

The historic Suite is located in the heart of Florence, close to the Duomo "Cathedral" and directly opposite the "'Accademia Gallery" which houses the originalof Michelangelo's David . It's location allows the visitor to combine relaxation with a cultural experience: a dip into Renaissance Florence. This XVI century palace, protected by the Italian National Commission for Cultural, was acquired by the ancestors of the current owners at the beginning of the 1800's. Until March 2007 was a private house, that was transformed by the owners in a pleasant intact structure which is still keeping its own original aristocratic and elegant atmosphere as private house. The suites are particularly wide and spacious, original internal finishing is exalted by the contrast with modern furnitures as well. Five large, prestigious and comfortable suites , covered with splendid frescoes and enriched with antiques, silks, brocades and contemporary works of great artists, are opening for elite hospitality. David Luxury suites , a luxurious historic residence where sumptuous elegance and top quality comforts are the demonstration of an exclusive concept of hospitality. The Alfani family takes personal harge of their Historic Residence, so that guests whether on holiday or on a working visit may enjoy the best treatment…Most of the Suites overlook a large and quiet garden (250mq), which is unique in the centre of Florence. Any suite is different to the others, but the elegance of the period furniture, the best comfort, the atmosphere and the best functionality is the same for all… private bath with Jacuzzi shower, hair dryer, self-regulated air-conditioning and heating, kitchen completely equipped , Internet high speed connection, Satellite TV.

Our guests can enjoy their stay in the heart of the city, in direct contact with its people and with the full freedom of having their house-keys at hand. The main monuments and museums, the most exclusive boutiques and all points of cultural and architectural interest are all within walking distance. It is the ideal choice for those who wish to enjoy the true spirit of Florence.

Our Superior suite (4+4) comprises:
110 sqm with 1 bedroom with twin or double bed, sofa bed 1,60m x 2,00m and 1 private bathroom with jacuzzi shower, 1 living room with sofa bed 1,60m x 2,00m and 1 bathroom with
jacuzzi shower, 1 bedroom with double bed , kitchen completely equipped.

The windows overlook our quiet interior garden and Ricasoli street.

Location, location, location. In this perfect spot for walking to all Florence's historical sites, we spent five days in February, 2008. Our superb 2-room apartment overlooked the entrance to the Accademia Museum and had a view of the Duomo. The English-speaking Alfani family, who reside at the newly renovated and impeccably clean and neat place, were available to assist us with advice about the area, including history, restaurants, shopping, and marketing. They couldn't have been more helpful. Mrs. Alfani even offered to send a personal money wire when my credit card mistankenly included the bill twice on my account. That wasn't necessary as she managed to have the bill corrected quickly. Having traveled in Italy and elsewhere often, I can't praise this lovely spot enough. I'm looking forward to our next visit, perhaps during the winter of 2009.

if you are lucky enough to discover + experience the incomparable palazzo alfani as we did, you will then understand my awe at what the alfani's have contributed to in creating one of the most beautiful accomodations i have had the pleasure of luxuriating + residing in during our stay in firenze...it is just that lovely and then some! francesca (the gracious proprietress) was ever accomodating (excellent suggestions/making dinner ressies + taxi's + overall helpful info)...it is as good as it gets! i was almost hesitant to let people in on this treasure we (and the many lucky guest that have had the pleasure!) of discovering in fear of not being able to get in the next time we venture to florence...but check it out for yourself...(without exageration) it is a most splendidly wonderful place to stay!

Me and my wife stayed at Palazzo Alfani in late August 2007 on our honeymoon trip. I must say, this is a very beautiful place, with a very helpful and kind landlady Franceska, who was always eager to meet our needs. Perfect location and decoration, this really is a very romantic place to stop by in Florence. We even made a renaissance-style photo session in the beautiful interiors of our San Marco apprtment. Among disadvantages i'd indicate absence of room service (though this is common for apartments, as they position themselves) and noise from the street if you windows look at the entrance to Academia museum entrance. A clamouring queue usually appears at 8 am, so forget about long sleep in the morning. Booking apartment with windows looking to the quiet inner garden is the only decisions for those who likes to sleep long. ;)

Francesca and her husband were very welcoming, and went out of their way to help us when we arrived earlier than check-in. The "room" is an entire apartment that is magnificent - directly across the street from David! ') Absolutely fantastic people, room, location and experience!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Palazzo Alfani. The location is perfect - directly across the street from the Aacadmia - a quick stroll to the Duomo and all else that glorious Florence has to offer. The apartment itself was newly, and very tastefully appointed with a lot of attention to detail paid to the things that matter. Street noise was non existent as the apartment we had windows which opened out above an adjacent internal courtyard. The management are charming - friendly and very helpful. I cannot recommend it enough!

We stumbled across the Palazzo Alfani after one of Florence's regular trade fairs had put all but uber-luxury hotels beyond our reach. It was a blessing in disguise. The Palazzo is a discreet town house directly opposite the Accademia, and consists of a number of spacious self-contained apartments which include fully-fitted kitchens, separate living room and bed/bathroom. Ours was newly-renovated, elegantly furnished and overlooking an enclosed garden to the rear. There is a supermarket just a few doors away for essential supplies, but the owner and daughter of the house, the good-natured Francesca, who lives on one level, is happy to point you in the right direction for neighbourhood dining. We stayed three nights and found the Palazzo a refuge in a city often low on value and inevitably, given its dependence on tourism, dulled to its tradition of hospitality. In fact it made the difference between enjoying the city as one should, and merely 'doing it' -- the queues to its cultural highlights being what they are. For independent travellers, therefore, we can't recommend the Palazzo enough. It's a smart, grown-up option, and greatly preferable to playing the lottery of a potentially forgettable hotel.

My wife and our 8 month old baby stayed at the Palazzo Alfani in May of 2007. You couldn't pick a better place to stay in Florence. The location is perfect. You are literally right across the narrow street from the Accademia, and only 2 blocks from the Duomo. The apartment was completely renovated very recently and it looked great. The bathroom and showers were superb, the living room very comfortable and the flat screen LCD a nice touch. To top it off, the owner, her husband, and their adorable little boy couldn't be more accommodating and helpful. If you are looking for a place in Florence, I would highly recommend this comfortable apartment.
