Piazza Beccaria Piazza Beccaria is a safe and lively district located on the edge of the historical city centre.
This district is characterized by hundreds of shops of every kind, markets (Sant'Ambrogio) and supermarkets (Coop, Oviesse and others).

This is a perfect area for students and tourists with an average budget for their accommodation, because the area is not as touristic as the centre of the city (which is, nevertheless, accessible in 10 minutes on foot) but it's very, very lively (shops, restaurants, pubs, cinemas, pastries..) and  mostly inhabited by Italians…

Via Gioberti, the main road of the district, is nicknamed "Via delle Centovetrine" ("the road of one hundred shopfronts"), and is illuminated by restaurants, fashion shops, pubs, bakeries, bookshops, perfumeries, florists etc, etc…and the shopping is here much cheaper than in the rest of the city because the area is located just outside the main city boulevards (that pass through Piazza Beccaria and  that mark the border of the historical centre).

Not to be missed in this area are two masterpieces of Liberty Style (or Art Nouveau, Jugendstil), two buildings located in Via Scipione Ammirato, not far from the Coop Supermarket…a great way to conjugate shopping with culture!

This area comes highly recommended for students and for tourists on a budget.  The apartments listed in our portal, located in this area, are usually of a good level at reasonable prices.
